school is finally out for the summer! I can't believe we have a 3rd grader. what a great year it was for him....although he did get very antsy the last month of school. we are so proud of him!
I have to preface this post by saying I have no idea what is wrong with my pictures.....they are turning out blurry on my blog and I don't know why. I am saving them "for the web", but they look blurry here, when they don't regularly. if anyone knows what I am doing wrong, please let me know!
I love all the little kids waiting for their turn to ride the bus. Our neighborhood takes up the entire bus! It takes forever for the bus to load all the kids in the morning...but at least it's only a 5 minute ride to the school.
I think the end of the school year rivals Christmas time in terms of being "crazy busy". We are really excited for summer to be here, although it's hard to imagine it ever coming with our 50-60 degree, cloudy days. I wore my fleece yesterday. but the "true northwesterners" say summer doesn't start here until after the 4th. Let's just hope that it is warm...unlike last year!
we have lots of fun camping plans and are spending a week at lake chelan with my family...FUN! dylan will be going to 2 camps but otherwise we'll be hanging at home. sean and I do NOT want him roaming the neighborhood with these certain boys like last summer, so we had to come up with some things for him to do here (other than xbox of course - ha!).
our problem is....our yard is just sooo small. our neighborhood is such a catch-22. while we LOVE being in such a wonderful, tight-knit neighborhood with SO MANY kids for dylan to play with, there is no where for them to play. except the playground (which he has grown out of), the street, and our tiny backyard. last summer the boys started making forts in the park area by the playground, but some other neighbors complained that it looked horrible in the common areas. oh how we miss our yard in massachusettes!
so.....enter one of the best ideas I have EVER had......
even dad got in on the fun....and yes, I have even jumped too! it is very very fun. and it provides hours of fun for dylan and his friends. exactly what we wanted!
the other thing we did was put a basketball net out front. our driveway in on a little slope, so we just put it at the end of the driveway. we keep it there permanently for now as it is too heavy to move everyday (like we originally thought we would). it works out great! it gets used sooo much by everyone! at one point we had about 20 kids out front.
so, hopefully that will help provide a little fun around the house this summer. now we just need the temperature to warm up so we can bring out the squirt guns and water balloons.
in the next post I'll show you our newly landscaped backyard - oh happy day!
