I was so excited to head south this past weekend and go camping at grayland state park
we had heard it was beautiful – you walk right over the dunes from your site and there is the ocean
we left 80s and sunny (FINALLY) in maple valley, to find cold and gray…I guess they call it grayland for a reason…we were quite disappointed, but the sun finally made an appearance on sunday
it was spectacular though…with amazing ocean frontage
it was much too cold to swim and the surf was way too rough, but the sound of the waves always makes me happy
my friend jeannette said she imagined it to be similar to the beaches back east…take away the fog and cold and she was right
this was the first time dylan brought a friend with him and the boys had a blast….not one ounce of bickering the entire weekend….they get along so well at home, we had a feeling it would be fine….they rode their bike practically the entire weekend
great kite flying
we went to a great antique shop on saturday afternoon (we had the BEST time futzing around) and I heard dylan say “mom, what are these?”
I had to tell them how we listened to music before iPods…..heck, they don’t even know what cassettes are
wind-blown hair
dylan shares my love for the beach….so many times I heard him say….”I’m so alive!”….or….”this is the best day!”….who cares about some clouds when you watch your child run, have fun and yell that into the wind
at one point I told garrett to brush the sand off his hands, I handed him my camera, showed him what to press and dylan and I walked into the sun
august is upon us….no more camps for dylan, just a bunch of lazy weekdays, a trip on dad’s boat (yeah!) and 2 more camping trips
hopefully it doesn’t go by tooooo fast
Thanks for following my blog and I love your photo's. Beautiful, especially the one of your little fellow fishing. So Sweet.
